Parângu Mare (Romanian pronunciation: [paˈrɨŋ̩ɡu ˈmare], "Big Parângu") is a mountain peak in Romania. At 2,519 metres above sea level, it is the highest peak of the Parâng Mountains, located in the Parâng Mountains group of the Southern Carpathians.[2] It is situated on the border of the Romanian counties of Gorj and Hunedoara. It is the most prominent peak in Romania (2,103 m), its parent mountain being Gerlachovský štít (2,655 m) in Slovakia.

Der Vârful Parângul Mare (ungarisch: Nagy-Páring) ist der höchste Gipfel des Parâng-Gebirges in den rumänischen Südkarpaten. Er liegt auf dem Grenzkamm zwischen den historischen Regionen Siebenbürgen und (Kleine) Walachei. Mit einer Schartenhöhe von 2103 m ist er noch vor dem Vârful Moldoveanu der prominenteste Berg des Landes.[3] Der kürzeste, gut markierte Anstieg führt vom Skigebiet Stațiunea Parâng über das Refugiul Cârja (auch "Rudolfshütte") und den Vârful Cârja herauf.[4]
