The name Nelson Island dates back to at least 1821 and is now established in international usage.

Eco-Nelson Station
The private research station Eco-Nelson is located on Nelson Island,[2] which is one of the South Shetland Islands. The station[3] was founded in 1988[3] by the Czech polar explorer Jaroslav Pavlíček. Eco-Nelson Station hosts international researchers[4] and therefore it is not considered a Czech station.
