The Franconian Forest[1] (German: Frankenwald , German pronunciation (help·info)), is a mid-altitude mountain range in Northern Bavaria, Germany. It is located in the district of Upper Franconia (Oberfranken) and forms the geological connection between the Fichtelgebirge and the Thuringian Forest. It is a broad well-wooded plateau, running for about 45 kilometres (28 mi) in a northwesterly direction, descending gently on the north and eastern sides towards the Saale river, but more precipitously to the Bavarian plain in the west, and attaining its highest elevation in the Döbraberg near Schwarzenbach am Wald (794 metres). Along the centre lies the watershed between the basins of the Main and the Saale, belonging to the systems of the Rhine and Elbe respectively.[2]

La Selva de Franconia (en alemán Frankenwald) es una cordillera de altitud media en el norte de Baviera, Alemania. Se encuentra en el distrito de Alta Franconia (Oberfranken) y forma la conexión geológica entre las Fichtelgebirge y la Selva de Turingia. Es una amplia meseta muy boscosa, que recorre alrededor de 45 km en dirección noroccidental, descendiendo suavemente por las vertientes norte y este hacia el río Saale, pero de manera más abrupta hacia la llanura bávara en el oeste, y logrando su máxima elevación en el Döbraberg cerca de Schwarzenbach am Wald (794 m). A lo largo del centro queda la divisoria de aguas entre las cuencas del Meno y el Saale, pertenecientes a los sistemas del Rin y el Elba respectivamente.

La forêt de Franconie est une chaîne de montagnes érodée du Nord-Est de la Franconie (Bavière septentrionale), dont l'altitude s'échelonne entre 300 et 795 m d'altitude, et qui s'étend sur 925 km2[2].
