The Kara Dere is a river that empties into the Black Sea 20 miles east of Trabzon, Turkey.[1] In ancient times it was known as the Hyssos or Hyssus.[2]

Der Karadere (auch Kara Dere; türkisch für „schwarzer Bach“) ist ein Zufluss des Schwarzen Meeres in den Provinzen Gümüşhane und Trabzon im Nordosten der Türkei. Der Fluss hieß in der Antike Hyssos (latinisiert Hyssus).
