Inyeug Island is a small uninhabited island in Tafea Province of Vanuatu in the Pacific Ocean. "Inyeug" means "Small Island" in a local language.^[which?] Inyueg is also called Mystery Island by the cruise ships that regularly visit the island.[1][2]

The island was visited by Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip in 1974, with the name "Mystery Island" coined to generate a more interesting headline of the report of the visit.

Geography

The island has an area of about 15.9 hectares and is located only 1 km south of the island of Aneityum. Inyeug is flanked to the west and south by the coral Intao Reef, that extends further south, and, albeit submerged, is the southernmost point of Vanuatu.

The island has the airport for the neighboring inhabited Aneityum Island. The airport is basically a grass airstrip, which gets small plane flights twice weekly from Port Vila via Tanna Island.[3]

Inyeug, früher und auch heute noch in Reiseprospekten Mystery Island, ist eine knapp 16 Hektar[1] große Insel der Neuen Hebriden im Südpazifik, welche politisch zum Inselstaat Vanuatu gehört. Sie ist als kleine Nebeninsel der Insel Aneityum in 680 Meter Abstand südwestlich des Coconut Ridge Point vorgelagert und besteht im Grunde hauptsächlich aus dem Flugplatz Anatom Airport (IATA: AUY, ICAO: NVVA).

Inyeug (anche conosciuta come Mystery Island) è una piccola isola del Sud Pacifico, che appartiene politicamente a Vanuatu. Ha una superficie di circa 15,9 ettari ed è situata solo 1 km a sud dell'isola di Anatom. La piccola isola è pressoché disabitata (se si esclude la presenza di alcuni bungalow turistici) e funge in pratica da aeroporto per gli abitanti di Anatom, grazie ad una pista di 610 m che attraversa in lunghezza l'intera isola.
