The Drino or Drinos (Albanian: Drino, Greek: Δρίνος) is a river in southern Albania and northwestern Greece, tributary of the Vjosë. Its source is in the northwestern part of the Ioannina regional unit, near the village Delvinaki. It flows initially southwest, then northwest and crosses the Albanian border near Ktismata. It continues northwest through Gjirokastër and flows into the Vjosë near Tepelenë.

Name
The Albanian name of the river is Drino and the Greek name is Δρίνος, Drinos. The name of the river contains the root Drin-, which is considered to be of Illyrian origin and is encountered also in the northern Albanian river Drin (cf. also Drina between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia).[2]

Der Drino (griechisch Δρίνος, albanisch selten auch Drin) ist ein Fluss in der südosteuropäischen Region Epirus. Sein 84,6 Kilometer langer Lauf ist von Südosten nach Nordwesten gerichtet. Die Quelle liegt im Norden Griechenlands. Nach rund 20 Kilometern tritt der Drino auf albanisches Gebiet über. Bei Tepelena mündet er in die Vjosa. Der Oberlauf heißt Fitóki und führt durch abgelegenes Bergland nordwestlich von Ioannina entlang der griechisch-albanischen Grenze. Der vom Drino entwässerte Streifen erstreckt sich kaum weiter als zehn Kilometer in griechisches Territorium hinein. Wenig südlich des griechisch-albanischen Grenzübergangs Kalpaki/Kakavija überquert die Europastraße 853 mit einer Brücke den Drino.- [en] Drino

Дри́но[3][4] (Дри́нос[1][2]; алб. Drino, греч. Δρίνος) — река на юге Албании и северо-западе Греции[4], левый приток Вьосы[3]. Образуется при слиянии рек Кувара[1] (Κουβαρά) и Йифтопотамос[1] (Γυφτοποταμος) северо-западнее греческой деревни Ктизмата в общине (диме) Погони на северо-западе периферийной единицы Янина в периферии Эпир. Йифтопотамос в месте слияния с Куварой по мосту пересекается европейским маршрутом E853 (национальной дорогой SH4), который проходит вдоль левого берега Дрино. Исток Кувары находится близ деревни Ставроскьяди (Σταυροσκιάδιον). Исток Йифтопотамоса находится близ деревни Лавдани (Λάβδανη). Пересекает государственную границу западнее греческой деревни Хрисодули и северо-западнее албанской деревни Какания в округе Гирокастра. По албанской территории течёт по равнине Дропули (алб.
