Metnitz is a river of Carinthia, Austria. The Metnitz springs near the Flattnitz Pass.[1] It is a left tributary of the Gurk north of Althofen.[2] Its drainage basin is 471 km² (182 sq mi).[3]

Die Metnitz ist ein linker Nebenfluss der Gurk in den Gurktaler Alpen in Kärnten. Der Name stammt aus dem Slawischen, bedeutet „trüber Bach“ und weist auf die Schwebstoffe hin, die der Vellachbach im Ort Metnitz einbringt.[4]
