El Salvador has 58 river basins which all drain to the Pacific Ocean.[1] The total amount of water discharged into the Pacific is 19 million m³ in a normal year.[2]
Additionally, there are several endorheic basins linked to a lake. Coatepeque Lake is the largest endorheic basin in the country.[1]

Los ríos de El Salvador se dividen 58 cuencas exorréicas que desembocan en el Océano Pacífico.[1] La descarga total de los ríos alcanza un promedio de 19 milion m³ por año.[2] Se distinguen 4 cuencas mayores y 7 regiones hidrográficas menores.[2] Además existen diferentes cuencas endorreicas ligados a un lago o laguna. La cuenca endorreica de mayor importancia es la del lago de Coatepeque.[1]
