Monte Fontainhas is a volcanic mountain in the middle of Brava island in Cape Verde. At 976 m elevation, it is the highest point of the island.[1] Rock types are made up of phonolite and ignimbrite. The mountainous centre of the island is often covered with clouds, which feed numerous springs, as was already observed by the 19th century traveller Armand d'Avezac.[2]

Le monte Fontainhas est une montagne du Cap-Vert d'origine volcanique. Avec une altitude de 976 m[1], c'est le point culminant de Brava, une île au relief accidenté, la plus petite des îles habitées de l'archipel et la plus proche de Fogo. Le monte Fontainhas est situé au cœur de l'île, au sud de Nova Sintra, le chef-lieu.
