Electric Peak is the tallest mountain in the Gallatin Range of southern Montana, close to the Wyoming border and rises to an altitude of 10,969 feet (3,343 m). The peak has some of the greatest physical relief in Yellowstone National Park, rising 3,389 ft (1,033 m) above its base.

Electric Peak was named during the first ascent in 1872 by the United States Geological Survey. Members of the Hayden Survey led by Henry Gannett[3] experienced electrical discharges from their hands and hair after a lightning event on the summit.[4][5]

Der Electric Peak ist mit einer Höhe von 3341 m[1] der höchste Berg der Gallatin Range im Süden des US-Bundesstaates Montana. Er liegt unmittelbar nördlich der Grenze zu Wyoming im nördlichen Teil des Yellowstone-Nationalparks. Die erste bekannte Besteigung erfolgte 1872 im Rahmen der Hayden-Expedition durch Henry Gannett.[2]

Имея высоту 3343 м[1], является 13-й по высоте горой штата[en] Вершина расположена в 300 метрах (19 угловых секундах) к северу от границы штатов Монтана и Вайоминг, проходящей по 45-й параллели. Электрик-Пик — самая высокая гора хребта Галлатин[en][2], который сам является частью Скалистых гор[4]. Гора впервые была покорена в 1872 году экспедицией под руководством географа Генри Ганнетта[en]. Одним из членов группы был известный географ и путешественник Фердинанд Гайден[4]. Своё название — Электрический пик — гора получила в связи с тем, что у участников экспедиции первопроходцев-покорителей, находящихся на вершине, после грозы начали сыпаться искры из пальцев рук и волос на голове[4][2][5].
