Der Berg erhielt seinen Namen durch Teilnehmer der New Zealand Federal Mountain Club Antarctic Expedition (1962–1963). Namensgeber ist der neuseeländische Geologe Gerald Holdsworth (* 1939), Leiter der Nordgruppe bei dieser Expedition.

Mount Holdsworth is a granite peak, 2,360 metres (7,740 ft) high, in the eastern part of the Monteath Hills, in the Victory Mountains of Victoria Land, Antarctica. It was named by the New Zealand Federated Mountain Clubs Antarctic Expedition, 1962–63, after Gerald Holdsworth, the leader of the northern party of this expedition.[1]
