Percorso
Il corso d'acqua nasce in Burkina Faso e riceve il fiume Lèraba. Per una parte del proprio tratto, segna il confine tra i due stati per poi entrare definitivamente in Costa d'Avorio, nei pressi della città di Ferkè. Il fiume entra nel lago Ébrié, successivamente sfocia nel golfo di Guinea.[1] Lungo il suo corso si formano le Cascate di Karfiguela.
La lunghezza totale del fiume è di circa 759 km e, lungo il suo corso, vi è un'importante zona ripariale che ha contribuito a sviluppare una ricca fauna.[1] L'acqua del fiume riveste un'importante risorsa idrica per l'agricoltura dei paesi attraversati.[1] Nel nord del tratto coperto in Costa d'Avorio, il fiume fa parte del parco nazionale del Comoé, sito tutelato dall'UNESCO come patrimonio dell'umanità.[1][2]

The Komoé River or Comoé River is a river in West Africa. The river originates on the Sikasso Plateau of Burkina Faso,[1] flow through the Cascades de Karfiguéla, forms a short section of the border between Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast until it enters Ivory Coast, where it is the major drainage for northeastern portion of that country before emptying into the Atlantic.[2] The banks of the Komoé are shaded by riparian forests along most of it length providing an important habitat for wildlife and a source of agricultural water.[2] Where reliable floodplains form in Ivory Coast, rice may be grown.[2] A portion of the river in northern Ivory Coast is the source of the vegetative richness that earned that area a UNESCO World Heritage Site designation, Comoé National Park.[2][es] Río Komoé
