The Tolt River is located in the western foothills of the Cascade Mountains in north central King County in the U.S. state of Washington. The river begins at the confluence of the North Fork Tolt and South Fork Tolt rivers. It flows southwest joining the Snoqualmie River near Carnation, Washington. The Tolt River watershed is part of the larger Snohomish River and Puget Sound drainage basin.

Name origin


The name Tolt comes from the Lushootseed village name tultxʷ or tulq.[3]

Der Tolt River befindet sich im US-Bundesstaat Washington im westlichen Vorgebirge der Kaskadenkette. Der Fluss beginnt bei dem Zusammenfluss des North mit dem South Fork Tolt River. Er fließt meist südwestlich, um dann in der Nähe von Carnation in den Snoqualmie River zu münden. Das Einzugsgebiet des Tolt River ist Teil des größeren Einzugsgebiets des Snohomish River, beziehungsweise des Puget Sound. Der Name „Tolt“ kommt von dem lushootseedischen Dorfnamen /túlq/.[1]
