Gong River or Gongshui (Chinese: 贡水) is a river of China. It is part of the East China Sea basin as a headwater of the Gan River, which itself is a tributary of the Yangzi Jiang.[1]

The Gong river flows in the Chinese province of Jiangxi and which is the main tributary of the Gan river, itself a tributary of the Yangzi Jiang. The river watershed has an area of 27074 km2 (30% of the Gan river basin). The average flow of the river is 700 m3/s. Its main tributaries are the Tao and Ping rivers.

The river basin of the river extends between longitudes 114° 48116° 08 and latitudes 24° 3826° 43 N.


Climate


The climate is of the humid subtropical climate type with rainfall concentrated in the summer (between April and September). It falls on average over the year 1627 mm of rain, the average annual temperature is 18 °C and the evaporation is 1550 mm. The watershed is mainly occupied by hills and medium mountains. Human density is high. This is one of the regions of southern China most affected by erosion phenomena associated with human activities (destruction of forests, cultivation of soils and opening of mines and quarries).
