The Dranse d'Abondance is the upper part of the river Dranse in the French department of Haute-Savoie, a sub-tributary of the Rhône.[2]

Geography

The river is sourced from above the hamlet of Plaine Dranse [fr], in the commune of Châtel near the pointe de Chésery and the Franco-Swiss border, in the Chablais.

It irrigates the Val d'Abondance.

In Bioge (a commune of Reyvroz), the river joins the Dranse at the confluence with Dranse de Morzine, which empties into Lake Geneva in the Delta de la Dranse National Nature Reserve between Thonon-les-Bains and Évian-les-Bains.

Fish population

The Dranse d'Abondance stocks a population of brown trout from the Mediterranean.[3] as are European bullheads. The fish are regulated by the AAPPMACG (Association Agréée pour la Pêche et la Protection du Milieu Aquatique du Chablais-Genevois).

Die Dranse d’Abondance ist ein Gebirgsfluss in Frankreich, der im Département Haute-Savoie in der Region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes verläuft. Sie ist hydrografisch als der Oberlauf der so insgesamt 49,1 km langen Dranse klassifiziert und entspringt im Gemeindegebiet von Châtel, nahe dem Col de Bassachaux, in der Nähe der Grenze zur Schweiz. Der Fluss entwässert generell Richtung Nordwest. Nach einer Strecke von rund 39 Kilometern mündet im Gemeindegebiet von La Forclaz von links die Dranse de Morzine. Ab hier heißt der Fluss Dranse (ohne Namenszusatz) und mündet nach etwa 10 km in den Genfersee.
