The Amendolea (Greek: Ποταμός Αμεντολέα from Greek "αμυγδαλέα" (=αμυγδαλιά)) is a river in the province of Reggio Calabria in the Calabria region of southern Italy.[1] Its source is near Montalto in Aspromonte National Park. The river flows south past Roghudi and Condofuri and empties into the Ionian sea west of Bova Marina. It has a drainage basin of 150.4 square kilometres (58.1 sq mi).[2]

L'Amendolea (Amendulìa Potamò in Greco di Calabria) è una delle fiumare dell'Aspromonte. Scorre in provincia di Reggio Calabria, di cui è il corso d'acqua più importante. Il suo nome potrebbe derivare dalla presenza, lungo le sue sponde, di parecchi alberi di mandorlo. Ancora oggi, nel dialetto locale, con il termine "mmenduli" si intendono le mandorle.
