Llyn y Fan Fawr (in gallese: 'grande lago (vicino) al picco')[1] è un lago naturale nella contea di Powys, Galles. Si trova ai piedi del Fan Brycheiniog,[2] la vetta più alta della catena delle Black Mountain (in gallese: Y Mynydd Du) all'interno del Parco nazionale di Brecon Beacons. Creato a seguito dell'azione glaciale,[3] è uno dei più grandi laghi glaciali del Galles meridionale.[4] l lago è di forma approssimativamente rettangolare con il suo asse longitudinale orientato grosso modo nord-sud.

La superficie del Llyn y Fan Fawr si trova a circa 1815 piedi o 605 m sul livello del mare.[5][6] Il suo deflusso principale è il fiume Tawe.[7] Gran parte della terra intorno al lago è torbosa e quindi bagnata sotto i piedi.

Llyn y Fan Fawr (Welsh: 'great lake (near) the peak')[1] is a natural lake in the county of Powys, Wales. It lies at the foot of Fan Brycheiniog,[2] the highest peak of the Black Mountain (WelshY Mynydd Du) range within the Brecon Beacons National Park. Created as a result of glacial action,[3] it is one of the largest glacial lakes in southern Wales.[4] The lake is roughly rectangular in shape with its long axis oriented roughly north-south.[citation needed]
