Melchsee is a lake in the canton of Obwalden, Switzerland. It lends its name to the resort Melchsee-Frutt, in the municipality of Kerns. At an elevation of 1891 m, its surface area is 54 ha (130 acres).

Der Melchsee ist ein Bergsee und Namensgeber des kleinen Wintersportorts Melchsee-Frutt im Kanton Obwalden auf dem Gemeindegebiet von Kerns. Er liegt in den Urner Alpen auf 1893 m ü. M.[1] und wird durch einen künstlichen Damm gestaut. Eine Druckleitung führt das Wasser vom Melchsee zum Kraftwerk Hugschwendi auf der Stöckalp im Melchtal, welches vom Elektrizitätswerk Obwalden betrieben wird und jährlich 35 GWh Strom produziert.

Il lago di Melch è un lago di montagna che dà il nome alla Melchsee-Frutt, piccola località di sport invernali nel canton Obvaldo sul territorio del comune di Kerns. È sbarrato da una diga costruita nel 1955[1] che alimenta la centrale elettrica Hugschwendi della Elektrizitätswerk Obwalden (EWO)[2].
