Der St. Boris Peak (bulgarisch Връх Свети Борис Wrach Sweti Boris) ist ein 1665 m hoher Berg auf der Livingston-Insel im Archipel der Südlichen Shetlandinseln. Im Friesland Ridge der Tangra Mountains ragt er oberhalb des Huntress- und des Macy-Gletschers 650 m südsüdwestlich des Mount Friesland und 3,75 km südsüdöstlich des Plíska Ridge auf.

Bulgarische Wissenschaftler nahmen von 1995 bis 1996 Vermessungen vor. Die bulgarische Kommission für Antarktische Geographische Namen benannte den Berg 2002 nach Boris I. († 907), Nationalheiliger Bulgariens. Am 23. Dezember 2016 wurde der Berg von Doitschin Bojanow und Nikolai Petkow erstmals bestiegen. Per DGPS bestimmten sie seine Höhe mit 1699 m. Das waren sechs Meter mehr als sie zuvor für den benachbarten und offiziell höchsten Berg der Tangra Mountains, den Mount Friesland, ermittelt hatten.[1]

St. Boris Peak (Bulgarian: връх Св. Борис, romanized: vrah Sv. Boris, IPA: [ˈvrɤx svɛˈti boˈris]) is an ice-covered mountain rising to 1,699 m in Friesland Ridge, Tangra Mountains on Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica. It is the second highest peak of both the mountains and the island after Mount Friesland (1,700.2 m). The two are connected by a short saddle dominated by ‘The Synagogue’, a sharp-peaked rock-cored ice formation abutting upon St. Boris Peak. The peak is also connected to Simeon Peak by Paril Saddle, and surmounts Huntress Glacier to the northwest and west, and Macy Glacier to the southeast. The peak's central summit is rising to 1,685 m,[1] while its highest point ‘The Synagogue’ rises to 1,699 m.[2][3] The local ice relief is subject to change; according to a Bulgarian GPS survey by D. Boyanov and N. Petkov the elevation of Mt. Friesland was 1,693 m in December 2016, making St. Boris Peak the summit of both Tangra Mountains and the island in that season.[4] According to the American high accuracy Reference Elevation Model of Antarctica (REMA), Mount Friesland is 8 m (26 ft) higher than the central summit of St. Boris Peak and 14 m (46 ft) higher than ‘The Synagogue’.[5]Другой контент может иметь иную лицензию.
