Mount Mooney ist ein 2850 m hoher Berg im westantarktischen Marie-Byrd-Land. Er ragt am Nordrand der La Gorce Mountains oberhalb des mittleren Abschnitts des Robison-Gletschers auf.

Entdeckt wurde er im Dezember 1934 von der geologischen Mannschaft um Quin Blackburn (1900–1981) bei der zweiten Antarktisexpedition (1933–1935) des US-amerikanischen Polarforschers Richard Evelyn Byrd. Byrd benannte ihn nach James Elliott Mooney (1901–1968), der diese und spätere Expeditionen Byrds unterstützte und von 1959 bis 1965 für das United States Antarctic Program tätig war.

Mount Mooney (.mw-parser-output .geo-default,.mw-parser-output .geo-dms,.mw-parser-output .geo-dec{display:inline}.mw-parser-output .geo-nondefault,.mw-parser-output .geo-multi-punct{display:none}.mw-parser-output .longitude,.mw-parser-output .latitude{white-space:nowrap}86°34′S 145°48′W) is a ridge-shaped mountain, 2,850 metres (9,350 ft) high, standing just north of the La Gorce Mountains, where it rises above the middle of Robison Glacier, in the Queen Maud Mountains of Antarctica. It was discovered in December 1934 by the Byrd Antarctic Expedition geological party under Quin Blackburn, and named by Rear Admiral Byrd for James E. Mooney, who assisted this and later Byrd expeditions. From 1959 to 1965, Mooney served as Deputy United States Antarctic Projects Officer.[1]
