Das Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names benannte ihn 1967 nach Harold E. Kendrick (* 1921), Einsatzoffizier im Kommandostab der Unterstützungseinheiten der United States Navy in Antarktika bei der Operation Deep Freeze des Jahres 1967.

It was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names for Captain H.E. Kendrick, Operations Officer on the staff of the Commander, U.S. Naval Support Force, Antarctica, in U.S. Navy Operation Deep Freeze 1967.[1]
