Das Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names benannte den Berg 2004 nach John H. Booth, Wissenschaftstechniker des United States Antarctic Program, der zwischen 1994 auf der Palmer-Station und der Amundsen-Scott-Südpolstation an acht antarktischen Winterkampagnen beteiligt war.

It was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names in 2004 after John F. (Johan) Booth, science technician who wintered eight times at the United States Antarctic Program Palmer Station and South Pole Station between 1994 and 2004.
