Der Mata Taua Peak ist ein markanter, 3013 m hoher Berg im ostantarktischen Viktorialand. In der Royal Society Range ragt er aus einem Gebirgskamm zwischen dem Matataua- und dem Ferrigno-Gletscher auf.

Der Berg bietet eine gute Aussicht auf ein Gebiet zahlreicher Felsgipfel im Nordosten sowie auf den Rampart Ridge und den Gletscher Upper Staircase im Südwesten. Das New Zealand Geographic Board veranlasste dies 1994 zu der Benennung nach einem Begriff aus dem Māori, der übersetzt so viel wie „Späher“ bedeutet.

Mata Taua Peak (.mw-parser-output .geo-default,.mw-parser-output .geo-dms,.mw-parser-output .geo-dec{display:inline}.mw-parser-output .geo-nondefault,.mw-parser-output .geo-multi-punct{display:none}.mw-parser-output .longitude,.mw-parser-output .latitude{white-space:nowrap}78°7′S 161°57′E) is a peak, 3,013 metres (9,885 ft) high, on the ridge separating the mouth of Matataua Glacier and Ferrigno Glacier in the Royal Society Range, Victoria Land, Antarctica. It was named by the New Zealand Geographic Board in 1994 in reference to the view from this peak, "Mata Taua" being a Māori name meaning "a scout before the troops". To the northeast, there is an array of rocky peaks; to the southwest, the view overlooks Rampart Ridge and the large Upper Staircase glacier.[1]
