Elle est située au large de la côte ouest de l'Istrie dans le nord de la mer Adriatique et est la plus grande île de l'archipel de Brioni.

Comme la majeure partie de l'archipel, Veliki Brijun fait partie du parc national de Brioni.

Le phare du cap Peneda est située à son extrémité sud.

Veliki Brijun (literally meaning Great Brijun, Italian: Brioni Grande) is an uninhabited island in the Croatian part of the Adriatic Sea. It is located off the west coast of Istria in northern Adriatic and is the largest island in the Brijuni Islands (also known as the Brioni or the Brionian Islands) archipelago. Like most of the archipelago, Veliki Brijun is part of the Brijuni National Park, established in 1983.

Вели-Бриюн (хорв. Veli Brijun); до 2006 года — Велики-Бриюн (хорв. Veliki Brijun) — необитаемый остров в хорватской части Адриатического моря. Находится у западного побережья полуострова Истрия. Является крупнейшим островом архипелага Бриони. Лежит в двух километрах от Фажаны и в шести километрах от Пулы. Вместе с другими островами архипелага входит в состав национального парка Бриони, открытого в 1983 году.
