Water Island, U.S. Virgin Islands (Dänisch: Vand ø) ist eine kleine bewohnte Insel südlich der Insel Saint Thomas vor Charlotte Amalie. Nordöstlich befindet sich die Insel Hassel. Water Island gehört politisch zu den Amerikanischen Jungferninseln. Die Landfläche beträgt 1,989 km².

Die erste bekannte menschliche Besiedlung fand durch die Taíno im 15. Jahrhundert statt. Die Vulkaninsel verdankt ihren Namen den reichen Süßwasserquellen (in der Inselgruppe sonst selten). Dänemark hat die Insel spätestens 1769 in Besitz genommen. 1905 wurde sie an „det Østasiatiske Kompagni“ (die ostasiatische Gesellschaft) verkauft. 1917 wurden die anderen dänischen Jungferninseln an die Vereinigten Staaten verkauft, jedoch nicht Water Island. Die Ø.K. behielt die Insel bis 1944 und verkaufte sie dann an die Vereinigten Staaten.[2][3] Die US-Armee baute daraufhin das Fort Segarra auf der Insel. Kurz nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg wurden die Bauarbeiten jedoch nicht weiter fortgesetzt.

Der Subdistrict of Water Island ist heutzutage Teil des St. Thomas District. Der Subdistrict of Water Island ist das Verwaltungsgebiet von Hassel und Water Island.

Hauptattraktion sind die Strände, das frühere Fort Segarra und das Riff Supermarket Reef in Limestone Bay.

Water Island (Danish: Vand ø) is an island territory currently belonging to the United States Virgin Islands, an American territory located in the Caribbean Sea. The rest of the U.S. Virgin Islands were acquired by the Americans in 1917 from Denmark, however Water Island was excluded, thus the Danish East Asiatic Company, and by proxy the Danish kingdom, continued to own Water Island until several decades later. Water Island was bought by the American government in 1944, and in 1996 it was transferred to the U.S. Virgin Islands. The island is of volcanic origin and lies to the south of Saint Thomas in the Charlotte Amalie harbor. Ferry service runs regularly from Crown Bay, Saint Thomas to Phillips Landing, Water Island; the ferry ride is about 10 minutes.

Water Island est une île acquise par les États-Unis en 1917 à la suite de la vente par le Danemark de ce qui constitue aujourd'hui les Îles Vierges des États-Unis, un archipel de la mer des Caraïbes. Durant plusieurs décennies, l'île reste aux mains d'une société avant de faire partie à part entière des Îles Vierges en 1996. Water Island est d'origine volcanique et se situe au sud de Saint-Thomas, face au port de Charlotte Amalie. Des ferrys desservent régulièrement l'île à partir de Crown Bay, sur l'île de Saint-Thomas. Le trajet dure 10 minutes.
