Eagle Island (aus dem Englischen sinngemäß übersetzt Adler-Insel, spanisch Isla Aguila bzw. Isla Águila) ist eine 8 km lange, 6 km breite und bis zu 560 m hohe Insel vor der Einfahrt zur Duse Bay an der Südseite der Trinity-Halbinsel am nördlichen Ende der Antarktischen Halbinsel. Sie ist die größte der sechs Inseln der Inselgruppe Islas Águila, die zwischen der Trinity-Halbinsel und der Vega-Insel liegt.

Entdeckt wurde die Insel vermutlich durch eine von Johan Gunnar Andersson geleitete Mannschaft bei der Schwedischen Antarktisexpedition (1901–1903) unter der Leitung Otto Nordenskjölds. Der Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS) kartierte sie 1945 und benannte sie nach der Eagle, einem 1902 unter dem Namen Sophie in Norwegen gebauten Robbenfänger, der dem FIDS für Forschungsfahrten zur Verfügung stand.

Eagle Island is one of several islands around the peninsula known as Graham Land, which is closer to South America than any other part of that continent. It is an island in the continent of Antarctica,[1] separated from the Antarctic mainland by the 1.77 km wide Aripleri Passage. It is volcanic in origin, having been K-Ar dated 1.7 ± 0.2 and 2.0 ± 0.2 million years old. It forms part of the James Ross Island Volcanic Group.[2]

Séparée du continent Antarctique par le passage d'Aripleri (en). Elle est d'origine volcanique, datée entre 1,7 à 2 millions d'années (± 0,2). Elle fait partie du groupe volcanique de l'île James Ross (en). Elle est habituellement totalement recouverte de glace et de neige.
