Il Sassandra è un fiume africano della Costa d'Avorio occidentale. È formato dalla confluenza del fiume Tienba, che ha origine negli altipiani del nord-ovest della Costa d'Avorio, e il fiume Gouan (noto anche come Bafing Sud River), che ha origine a ovest negli altipiani della Guinea. Il Sassandra scorre verso sud-sud-est a sfocia nel Golfo di Guinea nell'Oceano Atlantico.

The Sassandra River is a river of western Côte d'Ivoire in West Africa. It is formed by the confluence of the Tienba River, which originates in the highlands of northwestern Côte d'Ivoire, and the Gouan River (also known as the Bafing Sud River), which originates to the west in the highlands of Guinea. The Sassandra flows south-southeast to empty into the Gulf of Guinea on the Atlantic Ocean. The Buyo Dam was constructed across the middle stretch of the river in 1980, just below the confluence with the Nzo River, to create the reservoir called Lake Buyo. The Davo River joins the Sassandra just before it meets the sea. The port town of Sassandra lies on the seacoast where the river meets the sea.

El río Sassandra es un río de África Occidental, que recorre principalmente el territorio de Costa de Marfil. Tiene su naciente en las tierras altas del  departamento de Odienné (9°09'41.4"N 7°11'52.3"W), en la meseta que cubre el noroeste del país. En su curso habita el hipopótamo pigmeo y sus aguas atraviesan el borde oriental del parque nacional Monte Sangbé. Une sus aguas con el río Tienba, que se origina en las montañas del norte de Costa de Marfil, con el río Gouan, que nace en las montañas de Guinea, el Sassandra discurre en dirección sur-sureste hasta su desembocadura en el golfo de Guinea (océano Atlántico).[1]
