Il lago Buchanan è un lago artificiale formatosi dalla costruzione dello sbarramento Buchanan sul basso corso del fiume Colorado del Texas per fornire acqua ed energia elettrica all'economia della regione. La diga, che misura 3,2 km di lunghezza, è stato completato nel 1939. Il lago Buchanan è il più bacino artificiale del Texas, e si estende nelle contee di Llano e Burnet e si trova a ovest della città di Burnet. È stato così chiamato in onore di James P. Buchanan (1867-1937).

Lake Buchanan ist der Stausee des Staudamms Buchanan Dam am Colorado River im US-Bundesstaat Texas. Er liegt in Burnet County und Llano County, westlich von Burnet. Die ursprüngliche Bezeichnung des Projekts hieß Hamilton Dam and Reservoir, wurde später jedoch zu Ehren des texanischen US-Repräsentanten und Kongressabgeordneten James P. Buchanan umbenannt.

Lake Buchanan (/bəˈkænən/[1][2]) was formed by the construction of Buchanan Dam by the Lower Colorado River Authority to provide a water supply for the region and to provide hydroelectric power. Buchanan Dam, a structure over 2 mi (3.2 km) in length, was completed in 1939. Lake Buchanan was the first of the Texas Highland Lakes to be formed, and with 22,333 acres (34.9 sq mi; 90.4 km2) of surface water, it is also the largest. The surface of the lake includes area in both Burnet and Llano Counties. The lake is west of the city of Burnet, Texas.
