Le lac Chelan est un lac des États-Unis, long de 81 kilomètres et large d'environ 1,5 kilomètre, situé au nord de l'État de Washington et protégé en partie au sein de la Lake Chelan National Recreation Area. Le nom Chelan provient du mot salish Tsi - Laan, qui signifie eaux profondes[1].

Le lac est alimenté par les eaux de nombreux cours d'eau descendant de la chaîne des Cascades. Avec une profondeur maximale de 453 mètres, c'est le troisième lac le plus profond des États-Unis, et le neuvième au niveau mondial[2],[3].
À l'extrémité sud du lac se trouve la ville de Chelan où les eaux du lac se déversent dans la rivière Chelan en passant à travers le barrage hydroélectrique du lac Chelan.

Lake Chelan (/ʃəˈlæn/ shə-LAN) is a narrow, 50.5-mile (81.3 km) long lake in Chelan County, north-central Washington state, U.S.[1] Before 1927, it was the largest natural lake in the state by any measure. Upon the completion of Lake Chelan Dam in 1927, the elevation of the lake was increased by 21 feet (6.4 m) to its present maximum-capacity elevation of 1,100 feet (340 m).[2] Two communities lie on the southern end of the lake, and a third sits at the far north end, providing a gateway to the North Cascades National Park.[es] Lago Chelan
