Der Keuka Lake ist aufgrund seiner Y-förmigen Gestalt ein untypischer Vertreter der Finger Lakes im US-Bundesstaat New York. Wegen seiner Form wurde der See in der Vergangenheit auch Crooked Lake genannt. Der heutige Name Keuka (.mw-parser-output .IPA a{text-decoration:none}ˈkjuːkə[1]) entstammt den Sprachen der Irokesen und bedeutet Kanuanlegestelle, in der Sprache der Seneca auch See mit einem Ellenbogen.[2]

Keuka Lake (/ˈkjuːkə/ KEW-kə)[2] is one of the major Finger Lakes in the U.S. state of New York. It is unusual because it is Y-shaped, in contrast to the long and narrow shape of the other Finger Lakes. Because of its shape, it was referred to in the past as Crooked Lake. Keuka means "canoe landing" in the Iroquois language and "lake with an elbow" in the Seneca language.[3]
