Lake Témiscouata is a lake in the Témiscouata region of southeastern Quebec, Canada. It is 40 km long, with a total area of 66 km².[1] The Madawaska River flows from this lake to the Saint John River.[2]

The cities of Témiscouata-sur-le-Lac, Dégelis and Saint-Juste-du-Lac are located on this lake.[3][4][5] Forestry is a major industry in this area.[6]

The Petit Témis Interprovincial Bicycle Path, runs from Rivière-du-Loup, Quebec to Edmundston, New Brunswick, following an abandoned railway line along the lake.[7]

The lake is theorized to be the inspiration for the nearby parish of Saint-Louis-du-Ha! Ha!. One explanation suggests the archaic French word haha, here meaning an unexpected obstacle or abruptly ending path, as the lake is an extremely long and particularly formidable obstacle to travel.[8]

Le lac Témiscouata est un lac de la région du Témiscouata dans le sud-est du Québec, au Canada. Long de 45 km et large de 2 km et d’une superficie de 67 km2, il est la source de la rivière Madawaska qui se déverse dans le fleuve Saint-Jean. Le lac Témiscouata est le second lac en importance sur la rive sud du fleuve Saint-Laurent, après le lac Memphrémagog (95,3 km2). Il fait partie des voies navigables historiques.
