June Lake is a subalpine lake within the Inyo National Forest, in Mono County, eastern California. It is at an elevation of 7,621 ft (2,323 m) in the Eastern Sierra Nevada.

Geography
It is located 20 miles North from Mammoth Lakes and 15 miles South from Lee Vining, California. It is one of the four lakes (June Lake, Gull Lake, Silver Lake & Grant Lake) inside the June Lake Loop. It is located about 5 miles south of the southern end of Mono Lake following U.S. Route 395 and then 2 miles west on State Route 158.
Activities
Fishing is considered one of the favorite summer sports. A small population of Lahontan cutthroat trout can be found in June Lake.[1] In the 1960s rainbow trout were plentiful.[citation needed] There are two marinas at June Lake: June Lake Marina and Big Rock Resort.

Der June Lake ist ein See im Mono County des US-Bundesstaates Kalifornien. Er befindet sich im Osten der Sierra Nevada unweit der Grenze zum Bundesstaat Nevada im Großen Becken. Der June Lake liegt im Hochland auf 2323 Metern über dem Meeresspiegel und ist von Bergen umgeben. Er gehört damit zu den höchstgelegenen Seen in Kalifornien. Das Gewässer erstreckt sich auf einer Breite von 970 Metern und ist rund 1,9 Kilometer lang. Die mittlere Tiefe liegt bei 18 Metern, während die maximale Tiefe 51 Meter beträgt. Die Region ist besonders bei Touristen beliebt und wird auch für Wassersport und Bootsfahrten genutzt. Am Ufer befinden sich neben zwei Bootstationen auch Hotels und Campingsplätze. Vor allem im Sommer ist ein relativ hohes Aufkommen an Fremdenverkehr zu verzeichnen. Das Gewässer ist darüber hinaus bekannt für seine je nach Lichteinfall mehr oder weniger intensive, aber immer auffallend blaue Farbe des Wassers.
