Inselsee is a lake in the Rostock district in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. At an elevation of 11.4 m, its surface area is 4.58 km². The lake is divided into two parts by a small 60 ha island „Schöninsel“. While the northern part of the lake is relatively flat, the average depth of the southern part is up to 6 m. The island (Schöninsel) is connected to the mainland by a bridge.

The lake is located in the town limits of Güstrow, south of the city center.

On the southern shore of Inselsee, the studio of Ernst Barlach, a German sculptor, is located. It was used by Barlach in the 1930s and currently functions as a museum.[1]

Der Inselsee ist ein etwa 4,58 km² großer See, südlich der Stadt Güstrow im Landkreis Rostock in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Er verdankt seinen Namen der im Süden des Sees liegenden Schöninsel. Diese teilt den See in einen Nordteil (Güstrower Teil) und einen Südteil (Gutower See). Der Güstrower Teil ist flach, während der Gutower Teil im Durchschnitt über 6 Meter tief ist. Die Insel ist durch eine Brücke mit dem Festland verbunden, die jedoch seit 2016 gesperrt ist[2]. Der See ist zirka 4,1 Kilometer lang und meist unter einem Kilometer breit. Der Inselsee ist bis zu 15 Meter tief.[3] Am Ostufer des Sees liegt der kleine Güstrower Ortsteil Heidberg und im Norden grenzt er an den Stadtteil Südstadt. Am See gibt es viele Ferienhäuser und er dient der Stadt Güstrow als Naherholungsgebiet.
