Anderson Lake is a small freshwater lake located on the southern slope of Dog Mountain between Marten Lake and Dream Lake, part of the Alpine Lakes Wilderness in King County, Washington. An unnamed creek exits Anderson Lake into a canyon that produces a tributary to Taylor River. Because of its proximity to Dog Mountain summit and the cirque of Rooster Mountain to the west, the lake is a popular area for hiking, swimming, and fishing rainbow trout.[1]

Access to Anderson lake is through Anderson Butte and Anderson-Watson Lakes Trail 611. The lake can also be accessed from the Lennox Creek Valley through the steep switchbacks above the old Devils Canyon Mine.[3] The trailhead is a short distance from the Bare Mountain trailhead with access to FS Road 57. The trail has detours with surrounding trails since Road 57 has been closed at the Bear Creek bridge since 1999.[4]
The valleys surrounding Dog mountain have been mined for silver, molybdenum, and copper, including chalcopyrite,[5] by several companies, including Penny Prospector[6] associated with the Buena Vista Mining District,[7] and Pine Marten Prospect,[8] as well as claims by Devil's Canyon and Lennox Mining and Development company further west.[9] The trails from Lennox Creek Valley still hold remains of equipment and landmarks by the mining activity. Some sections of the trail were part of the mining roads.
