Fu mappato per la prima volta dalla Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition (CTAE) nel 1957. Nel 1967 fu effettuata una ricognizione aerofotografica da parte degli aerei della U.S. Navy.

L'attuale denominazione fu assegnata nel 1971 dal Comitato britannico per i toponimi antartici (UK-APC), in onore dell'ingegnere David L. Pratt e del geofisico John G. D. Pratt, entrambi componenti della Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition nel 1956-58.[1]

Der Pratts Peak ist ein 915 m hoher Berg im ostantarktischen Coatsland. Im westlichen Teil der Shackleton Range ragt er 10 km östlich des Mount Provender auf.

Pratts Peak is a rock peak in Antarctica located 11 kilometres (6.8 mi) east of Mount Provender in the west part of Shackleton Range. It was first mapped in 1957 by the CTAE and it was photographed in 1967 by U.S. Navy trimetrogon aerial photography. It was named by the United Kingdom Antarctic Place-Names Committee (UK-APC) for David L. Pratt, engineer, and John G. D. Pratt, geophysicist, who were with the transpolar party of the Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition in 1956–58.
