Il monte è stato mappato dall'United States Geological Survey (USGS) sulla base di rilevazioni e foto aeree scattate dalla U.S. Navy nel periodo 1956-66.

La denominazione è stata assegnata dall'Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN), in onore di Richard B. Weininger, responsabile scientifico della Base Amundsen-Scott durante l'inverno del 1967.[1]

Mount Weininger ist ein 1970 m hoher und größtenteils eisfreier Berg im westantarktischen Queen Elizabeth Land. In der Patuxent Range der Pensacola Mountains ragt er am nördlichen Ausläufer des Mackin Table auf, mit dem er über einen kurzen Bergkamm verbunden ist.

Mount Weininger is a large, mainly ice-free mountain in Antarctica, 1,970 m, standing at the north extremity of Mackin Table, to which it is joined by a short ridge, in the Patuxent Range, Pensacola Mountains. It was mapped by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) from surveys and U.S. Navy air photos from 1956 to 1966. It was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for Richard B. Weininger, a scientific leader at South Pole Station during the winter of 1967.
