Geografia
Il monte Katmai si trova nel sud-ovest della Alaska, nella penisola di Alaska. Il vulcano è circondato dal Novarupta ad ovest, e dalla valle dei Diecimila Fumi a nord-ovest, dal Snowy nel nord-est, dalla baia di Kukak ad est, dallo stretto di Šelichov ad est, sud-est e sud.
La cima della montagna è coronata da una caldera ampia tre chilometri per quattro di lunghezza;[2][3] uno dei suoi bordi s'innalza a 2.047 metri sul livello del mare. La caldera contiene un lago profondo 250 metri che ha completamente sommerso un'antica isola, composta da un duomo di lava formatosi nel 1916, quattro anni dopo l'eruzione che ha creato la caldera. I pendii della montagna sono coperti da ghiacciai.
Tecnologia
Katmai è anche il nome in codice della tecnologia alla base della prima generazione di processori Pentium III.

Der Mount Katmai – auch Katmai – ist ein Stratovulkan auf der Alaska-Halbinsel im Südwesten Alaskas im Katmai-Nationalpark gelegen. Er liegt in der Alëutenkette und ist somit ein Teil des Feuerrings um den Pazifik. Der Kraterrand erreicht eine Höhe von 2047 m. Der Vulkan hat einen Durchmesser von 10 km. Mount Katmai (Russian: Катмай) is a large stratovolcano (composite volcano) on the Alaska Peninsula in southern Alaska, located within Katmai National Park and Preserve. It is about 6.3 miles (10 km) in diameter with a central lake-filled caldera about two by three miles (3.2 by 4.8 km) in size, formed during the Novarupta eruption of 1912. The caldera rim reaches a maximum elevation of 6,716 feet (2,047 m). In 1975 the surface of the crater lake was at an elevation of about 4,220 feet (1,286 m), and the estimated elevation of the caldera floor is about 3,400 ft (1,040 m). The mountain is located in Kodiak Island Borough, very close to its border with Lake and Peninsula Borough.[fr] Mont Katmai
