La denominazione è stata assegnata nel 1979 dall'Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) in onore del capitano di corvetta Richard M. Hook, della U.S. Navy, ufficiale medico della Base Amundsen-Scott durante l'inverno 1968.[1]

Mount Hook ist eine 1605 m hohe, verschneite und bergähnliche Erhebung im westantarktischen Queen Elizabeth Land. In der Forrestal Range der Pensacola Mountains ragt er 8 km südöstlich des Sorna Bluff an der Ostseite des Saratoga Table auf.

Mount Hook is a mountainous snow-covered projection from the east side of Saratoga Table, 5 nautical miles (9 km) southeast of Sorna Bluff, in the Forrestal Range of the Pensacola Mountains, Antarctica. It was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names in 1979 after Lieutenant Commander Richard M. Hook of the U.S. Navy, who was a Medical Officer at South Pole Station in the winter of 1968.[1]
