Il monte è stato mappato dall'United States Geological Survey (USGS) sulla base di rilevazioni e foto aeree scattate dalla U.S. Navy nel periodo 1956-66.

La denominazione è stata assegnata dall'Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN), in onore di Clarence C. Dumais, luogotenente dell'U.S. Navy, ufficiale responsabile della Base Amundsen-Scott durante l'inverno 1960.[1]

Mount Dumais ist ein 1830 m hoher und kliffähnlicher Berg im westantarktischen Queen Elizabeth Land. In der südlichen Patuxent Range der Pensacola Mountains ragt er 3 km nördlich des Lekander-Nunatak am südwestlichen Rand des Mackin Table auf.

Mount Dumais is a bluff-type mountain in Antarctica, 1,830 metres (6,000 ft) high, standing on the southwest edge of Mackin Table, 2 nautical miles (4 km) north of Lekander Nunatak, in the southern Patuxent Range, Pensacola Mountains. It was mapped by the United States Geological Survey from surveys and U.S. Navy air photos, 1956–66, and was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names for Lieutenant Clarence C. Dumais (MC) of the U.S. Navy, who was the officer in charge of South Pole Station in the winter of 1960.[1]
