La dorsale è stata mappata dall'United States Geological Survey (USGS) sulla base di rilevazioni e foto aeree scattate dalla U.S. Navy nel periodo 1956-66.

La denominazione è stata assegnata dall'Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN), su proposta del capitano Finn Rønne, della U.S. Navy Reserve, responsabile della Stazione Ellsworth nel 1957. Allan S. Cross si occupò della pianificazione delle forniture medicali, delle istruzioni per il pronto soccorso e della preparazione delle razioni da consumare durante il percorso della Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition del 1947–48.[1]

Mount Cross ist ein 1005 m hoher Berg im westantarktischen Queen Elizabeth Land. In der zentralen Patuxent Range der Pensacola Mountains ragt er 4 km nordöstlich des King Ridge in den Anderson Hills auf.

Mount Cross is a mountain in Antarctica, 1,005 metres (3,300 ft) high, standing 2.5 nautical miles (5 km) northeast of King Ridge in the Anderson Hills, in the central Patuxent Range of the Pensacola Mountains. It was mapped by the United States Geological Survey from surveys and from U.S. Navy air photos, 1956–66, and named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names at the suggestion of Captain Finn Ronne, a U.S. Navy Reserve and the leader at Ellsworth Station in 1957. Allan S. Cross assisted in planning the medical supplies, in providing instruction in first aid, and in selecting trail rations for the Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition of 1947–48.[1]
