Il monte è stato mappato dall'United States Geological Survey (USGS) sulla base di rilevazioni e foto aeree scattate dalla U.S. Navy nel periodo 1956-66.

La denominazione è stata assegnata dall'Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) in onore di LeRoy G. Coulter (1930-2001), cuoco della Stazione Ellsworth nell'inverno 1958.[1]

Mount Coulter ist ein rund 1000 m hoher Berg im westantarktischen Queen Elizabeth Land. Im zu den Schmidt Hills gehörenden Abschnitt der Neptune Range in den Pensacola Mountains ragt er 5 km nordwestlich des Mount Gorecki auf.

Mount Coulter is a mountain in Antarctica, 3 nautical miles (6 km) northwest of Mount Gorecki in the Schmidt Hills portion of the Neptune Range of the Pensacola Mountains in Antarctica. It was mapped by the United States Geological Survey from surveys and from U.S. Navy air photos, 1956–66, and named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names for LeRoy G. Coulter, cook at Ellsworth Station in the winter of 1958.[1]
