Il Monte Adam (in inglese Mount Adam, in spagnolo Monte Independencia o Monte Beaufort) è una montagna dell'isola Falkland Occidentale. Con i suoi 698 m s.l.m. è il monte più alto dell’isola[1].

Descrizione

Il monte Adam è più basso solo di alcuni metri rispetto alla vetta più alta dell'arcipelago, il Monte Usborne, che si trova sull'isola Falkland Orientale. Fa parte della catena montuosa delle Hill Cove Mountains.

Come le altre zone elevate delle Falklands, il monte Adam fu interessato da episodi glaciali. Le poche vette al di sopra dei 600 metri di quota sono caratterizzate da:

pronunciati corrie con piccoli laghi glaciali alla loro base, creste moreniche alla base di questi circhi e zone di accumulo [2] presenti alle quote più alte, mentre le altre zone dell'arcipelago sperimentarono un clima periglaciale [3].

Mount Adam (spanisch Monte Independencia) ist ein Berg in den Hornby Mountains und mit rund 700 Metern Höhe die zweithöchste Erhebung der Falklandinseln und die höchste Westfalklands. Er ist Teil der Gebirgskette Hill Cove Mountains. Auf ihm befinden sich Überreste eines Gletschers[1].

Mount Adam (Spanish: "Monte Independencia/Monte Beaufort") is a mountain on West Falkland, part of the Hill Cove Mountains range. It is the highest mountain on West Falkland and is the second highest in the islands.[2] It has the remains of glacial cirques on it, and is of similar height to Mount Usborne on East Falkland. Its summit is at 2,300 feet (700 m).[3] It is south west of Mount Edgeworth. The closest settlements are Hill Cove to the North, and Chartres to the South.

El monte Adam (en idioma inglés: Mount Adam) o monte Independencia (de acuerdo a la toponimia de la Argentina), también denominado monte Beaufort, es una cumbre montañosa de las islas Malvinas que se eleva a 700 metros sobre el nivel del mar, en el sector noroccidental de la isla Gran Malvina, siendo parte de las colinas de cerro Cove.[1] El nombre «Independencia» fue el anterior nombre del monte Robinson, por lo tanto suelen ocurrir confusiones.[2]
