Le montagne di Barkley sono un piccolo gruppo montuoso dell'Antartide facente parte della più grande catena montuosa delle montagne di Sverdrup. Situata nella Terra della Regina Maud e in particolare in corrispondenza della costa della Principessa Astrid, la formazione si innalza tra la valle Kvitsvodene e il ghiacciaio Rogstad.

Storia
Le montagne di Barkley sono state scoperte e fotografate durante la spedizione Nuova Svevia, 1938-39, comandata dal capitano tedesco Alfred Ritscher, il quale le battezzò così in onore di Erich Barkley, un biologo facente parte della spedizione. La formazione fu poi mappata più dettagliatamente grazie a fotografie aeree scattate durante la spedizione antartica norvegese-britannico-svedese, 1949-52.[1]

Die Barkleyberge sind eine kleine Gruppe bis zu 2830 m hoher Berge im ostantarktischen Königin-Maud-Land. Sie ragen zwischen dem Tal Kvitsvodene und dem Rogstad-Gletscher in der Sverdrupfjella auf. Zu ihnen gehören der Gebirgszug Kvitkjølen und der Berg Isingen.[en] Barkley Mountains

They were discovered by the Third German Antarctic Expedition under Alfred Ritscher, 1938–39, and named for Erich Barkley, biologist on the expedition.
