I picchi sono stati mappati dall'United States Geological Survey (USGS) sulla base di rilevazioni e foto aeree scattate dalla U.S. Navy nel periodo 1956-66.

La denominazione è stata assegnata dall'Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) in onore di Larry T. Kester, fotografo dello Squadron VX-6 della U.S. Navy durante l'Operazione Deep Freeze del 1964.[1]

Die Kester Peaks sind eine Gruppe drei hintereinander angeordneter Berge im westantarktischen Queen Elizabeth Land. Sie ragen 8 km südlich des Mount Malville auf der Ostseite der Forrestal Range in den Pensacola Mountains auf.

The Kester Peaks are three aligned rock peaks standing together 5 nautical miles (9 km) south of Mount Malville on the east side of the Forrestal Range, in the Pensacola Mountains of Antarctica. They were mapped by the United States Geological Survey from surveys and U.S. Navy air photos from 1956 to 1966, and were named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names for Larry T. Kester, a photographer with U.S. Navy Squadron VX-6 during Operation Deep Freeze in 1964.[1]
