Il Fichtelgebirge è un massiccio montuoso bavarese, che si trova al confine con la Repubblica Ceca. La cima più elevata del gruppo è lo Schneeberg (1 051 m s.l.m.). Il fiume principale nascente da questo massiccio è l'Eger, che dopo 65 km in terra tedesca scorre in Boemia col nome di Ohře, per poi confluire da sinistra nell'Elba presso Litoměřice.

Das Fichtelgebirge (tschechisch Smrčiny) ist ein bis zu 1051 Meter hohes Mittelgebirge im Nordosten Bayerns und im Nordwesten Tschechiens.

The Fichtel Mountains[1][2][3][4][5] (German: Fichtelgebirge, Czech: Smrčiny), form a small horseshoe-shaped mountain range in northeastern Bavaria, Germany. They extend from the valley of the Red Main River to the Czech border, a few foothills spilling over into the Czech Republic. They continue in a northeasterly direction as the Elster Mountains, and in a southeasterly direction as the Upper Palatine Forest. The Fichtel Mountains contain an important nature park, the Fichtel Mountain Nature Park, with an area of 1,020 square kilometres (390 sq mi).
