Le Yate est un volcan du Chili qui se présente sous la forme d'un stratovolcan allongé, recouvert de glaciers et culminant à 2 187 mètres d'altitude. En 1965, un glissement de terrain sur l'un de ses flancs s'est jeté dans le lac Cabrera, formant un tsunami qui cause la mort de 27 personnes et détruit plusieurs maisons.

Der Yate ist ein 2187 Meter hoher Vulkan in den Anden im Süden von Chile. Er befindet sich im 48.232 Hektar großen Hornopiren-Nationalpark der Region Hualaihué und gehört zum Liquiñe-Ofqui-Graben.

Yate Volcano is a large, glaciated stratovolcano located in the southern Andes, in the Los Lagos Region of Chile, south of the Reloncaví Estuary. Yate lies on the major regional Liquiñe-Ofqui Fault Zone, and is located 10 km north-east of the smaller Hornopiren volcano. The last known eruption occurred in 1090 CE.[1] There are no historical records of recent volcanic activity, but there is strategic evidence of smaller eruptions sometime in the Holocene.[citation needed] The volcano is named after Juan Yates, also known as John Yates, a settler of Puerto Americano who played a significant role in the exploration and colonisation of Patagonia.[2]
