Géographie

Le Gellért-hegy est situé dans le 11^e arrondissement, à l'extrémité orientale des collines de Buda, au sud des monts du Pilis. Il donne son nom au quartier homonyme.

Emblématique du paysage de la ville, il fait partie intégrante du patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO.

Monuments

Son sommet est coiffé d'une citadelle et d'une statue de la Liberté représentant la libération de la ville en 1945.

Der Gellértberg (ungarisch Gellért-hegy; früher Kelen-hegy;[1] deutsch Kelenberg oder Osterberg) liegt im I. und XI. Bezirk von Budapest. Er wurde nach Giorgio di Sagredo, dem Heiligen Gellért benannt, der von diesem Berg zu Tode gestürzt wurde. Ab 1495 erscheint der Gellértberg auch unter dem lateinischen Namen Mons Sancti Gerardi (Sankt-Gerhardsberg). Nach der Ansiedlung von deutschen Auswanderern in Ofen und Pest ab dem 17. Jahrhundert wird der Gellért-hegy als Blocksberg, der Treffpunkt der Hexen, bekannt.[2]

Gellért Hill (Hungarian: Gellért-hegy; German: Blocksberg; Latin: Mons Sancti Gerhardi Turkish: Gürz İlyas Bayırı) is a 235 m (771 ft) high hill overlooking the Danube in Budapest, Hungary. It is located in the 1st and the 11th districts. The hill was named after Saint Gerard who was thrown to death from the hill. The famous Hotel Gellért and the Gellért Baths can be found in Gellért Square at the foot of the hill, next to Liberty Bridge. The Gellért Hill Cave is also located on the hill, facing the hotel and the Danube.
