The Payer Mountains (German: Payergruppe) is a group of scattered mountains extending north-south for about 37 km (23 mi), standing 15 km (9 mi) east of the Weyprecht Mountains and forming the eastern half of the Hoel Mountains in central Queen Maud Land.

They were discovered by the Third German Antarctic Expedition (1938–1939), led by Capt. Alfred Ritscher, and named for Julius Payer, Austrian polar explorer, who in company with Karl Weyprecht discovered Franz Josef Land in 1873.[1]

Die Payergruppe sind eine Gruppe verstreuter Berge im ostantarktischen Königin-Maud-Land. Sie verteilen sich über eine Länge von 39 km in nordsüdlicher Ausrichtung in einer Entfernung von 16 km östlich der Weyprechtberge und bilden die östliche Hälfte der Hoelfjella.

Le montagne di Payer sono un piccolo gruppo montuoso dell'Antartide facente parte della più grande catena montuosa delle montagne di Hoel, di cui costituisce la metà orientale. Situata nella Terra della Regina Maud e in particolare in corrispondenza della costa della Principessa Astrid, la formazione si trova all'incirca 15 km a ovest delle montagne di Weyprecht e si estende in direzione nord-sud per circa 37 km.
