Bogićevica (Serbian Cyrillic: Богићевица; Albanian: Bogiçevica / Bogiqevica) is a mountain area in the Accursed Mountains mountain range. It spreads over Albania, Montenegro and Kosovo[a]. It is about 15 km (9 mi) long and 10 km (6 mi) wide.[citation needed] The mountain area has a number of peaks higher than 2,000 m (6,562 ft) and two higher than 2,500 m (8,202 ft). Marijash (2,533 m or 8,310 ft) and Maja e Ropës (2,502 m or 8,209 ft) are both located in Kosovo. The towns of Deçan in Kosovo and Tropojë in Albania are located near the area.
Notes:
a. | ^ The political status of Kosovo is disputed. Having unilaterally declared independence from Serbia in 2008, Kosovo is formally recognised as an independent state by 97 UN member states (with another 15 states recognising it at some point but then withdrawing their recognition), while Serbia continues to claim it as part of its own sovereign territory. |
