Die Maclaren-Monolith ist ein Berg im ostantarktischen Coatsland. Er ragt rund 1000 m (nach britischen Angaben 1400 m) hoch in den Herbert Mountains der Shackleton Range auf und besitzt einen monolithischen Gipfel.

Aus der Luft fotografiert wurde er 1967 durch die United States Navy. Der British Antarctic Survey unternahm zwischen 1968 und 1971 die geodätische Vermessung. Das UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee benannte ihn 1971 nach dem schottischen Naturforscher Charles Maclaren (1782–1866), der 1861 als Erster den Einfluss der Gletscheraktivität auf den Meeresspiegel erkannte.

Maclaren Monolith (.mw-parser-output .geo-default,.mw-parser-output .geo-dms,.mw-parser-output .geo-dec{display:inline}.mw-parser-output .geo-nondefault,.mw-parser-output .geo-multi-punct{display:none}.mw-parser-output .longitude,.mw-parser-output .latitude{white-space:nowrap}80°20′S 25°23′W) is a peak rising to about 1,000 metres (3,300 ft) on the central ridge of the Herbert Mountains, Shackleton Range, Antarctica. The feature is notable for a monolith forming the summit. It was photographed from the air by the U.S. Navy in 1967, and surveyed by the British Antarctic Survey between 1968 and 1971. In association with the names of glacial geologists grouped in this area, it was named by the UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee in 1971 after Charles Maclaren, a Scottish naturalist who in 1842 was the first to recognize the glacial control of sea level.[1]
